Zuckerberg (finally) talks numbers
On an open call to employees yesterday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg candidly discussed earnings for '07 and outlook for '08.
Kara Swisher of All Things Digital reported on the call.
2007 revenues for Facebook totaled $150 million. 2008 revenues are projected to fall between $300 and $350 million.
The figure appears to reflect a healthy course of growth, but Facebook expects to spend $200 million on capital expenditures next year alone.
Facebook's staff is also projected to expand to 1,000 from 450.
With all that on the pipeline, EBITDA for 2008 is projected at $50 million, leaving Facebook with a negative cash flow of $150 million.
"But who's counting? Zuckerberg apparently said he did not care about maintaining EBITDA anyway," Swisher wrote.
