AdWeek reports that Y&R's New York office will lay off between 45 and 50 people after having lost business from Computer Associates and facing the withdrawal of major client AT&T from consumer advertising altogether. The two clients together account for about $200 million less in expected billings this year. Typically, large agencies employ one person for about every million dollars in billings of a major account. The layoffs are to hit all departments at all levels.
