YouTube's plans for international expansion include developing language versions of the site to ultimately localize around the world, reports NewTeeVee. Already, YouTube has hinted at launching language versions in both French and Mandarin.
Currently only available in English, the site already enjoys global popularity. Half of its visitors live outside the US.
While visiting his birthplace in Taiwan, YouTube creator Steve Chen unveiled plans for a local version of the site in Mandarin during a public forum with YouTube fans, according to The Taipei Times.
And news from France's Les Echos stated Google CEO Eric Schmidt would annouce a French version during a visit to Paris on June 19.
Google has already signed deals with France Télévision in a deal that mirrors a relationship with the BBC in the UK.
