YouTube Founders Take Troubles in Stride

Despite a raft of problems and legal challenges, YouTube founders are focused on the future, reports The Associated Press.

Co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen say they are not troubled by the influx of competitors and mounting legal troubles facing the site. Instead, they say, they're focused on protecting copyright and on making money for content creators and parent company Google.

Analysts believe YouTube won't be substantively profitable for either group until the introduction of in-video ads - specifically those that can contextually, demographically and geographically target. Hurley and Chen indicated such ads could be ready in the next few months, though Google's DoubleClick acquisition may add time to the process.
The development of stronger copyright protections remains a well-emphasized priority, as it will open the door for YouTube and copyright holders to develop stronger revenue-based relationships.
