PaidContent notes that Yahoo's brand of news - a combination of aggregated news feeds covered by a patina of original coverage and positioning - is winning out online, even against the previously dominant CNN.com. While Yahoo won't say just how many people are employed to guide and position the news, its facility dedicated to the purpose in Sunnyvale can fit between 15 and 20 staffers.
It finally superceded CNN this year, even as it fends off the completely automated news juggernaut of Google News.
Also with a strong showing is Microsoft's MSNBC.com, which won the battle for the most unique visitors, according to recent Nielsen/NetRatings figures.
