Yahoo to Stream Previews of New CBS, NBC Shows

Initiating an overhaul of its TV section, which has lost some of its erstwhile luster, Yahoo has launched a new area for this fall's primetime shows.

The new section, Yahoo TV Fall 2006 Preview, will stream the full episodes of at least two shows a week before their TV broadcast, reports MediaPost. The pilot episode of CBS's Jericho will be streamed starting Sept. 13, as will the pilot of NBC's Heroes, starting Sept. 18. Fox's Vanished pilot and Prison Break's season premiere will be available after their TV debut.

The Yahoo TV Preview site will contain information about 34 major primetime shows, including clips, summaries and cast pictures. "We're trying to create more immersive, engaging and dynamic destinations for TV users," Karin Gilford, who on Monday began serving as general manager of Yahoo Entertainment, is quoted as saying.

The Fall TV section is for now running house ads, but Yahoo has contacted marketers about sponsorships; the individual pages for the various TV shows are ad-supported.
