Yahoo has launched Yahoo Food, an online site dishing out cooking advice and recipes, and videos from celebrities, chefs and celebrity chefs.
Yahoo Food launched on Nov.1 and will feature content from partners such as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and magazines such as Everyday with Rachael Ray, Reader's Digest, Eating Well and Food & Wine, Red Herring reports. The site features food preparation advice and recipes from Martha Stewart, Morgan Freeman, Rachael Ray and Wolfgang Puck, among others. The site was designed by Yahoo's Lifestyle group. Deanna Brown, who founded Epicurious in 1995 and later created AOL Food, is in charge of the Yahoo Food launch.
Yahoo Food will be ad-supported, featuring interactive ads from Kraft Foods, along with text ads with sponsored links from advertisers like TableAndHome.com and CafeAltura.com.
The site enters an already crowded food-site market. AllRecipes.com and Epicurious are current partners with the site - but are also competitors along with the recently debuted Chow.com, as well as AOL Food.
