The LA Times reports Yahoo signed a lease to take over the old Metro-Goldwin-Mayer headquarters, bringing Yahoo's entertainment division firmly into the sphere of Hollywood's influence and culture. Already headed by a Hollywood executive, Yahoo has been consistently moving closer to entertainment circles and the creation of original content. Its new Yahoo Media Group will be run by a former TV executive, Lloyd Braun. Early in the days of interactive, many regional bell companies and other firms experimenting with early broadband ventures tried to involve Hollywood concerns in their plans - one of the factors then listed as why they became bloated and unsuccessful. Yahoo is now attempting to gin up interest among producers and talent agents for putting together short-form pieces that can be displayed online by Yahoo.
