Yahoo Lets Ladies 'Shine' on New Community Site

Are you there, God?
It's me, Margaret.

Yahoo has launched a community-oriented site geared to women of all ages, reports CNET.

"Shine," part of a company-wide attempt to build more vertical content destinations, also aspires to challenge femme-centric giants like iVillage and Glam Media, which court ad dollars across myriad popular niche sites.

Shine will include contributions from Glamour, Cosmopolitan and other mainstream publishers, as well as articles and blogs from writers at those titles.

Visitors are welcome to start personal blogs of their own. To motivate them, editors will sweep new content for potential inclusion in "featured" sections.

Yahoo announced the launch of Shine on its Yodel Anecdotal blog early today.
