WPP's Wunderman Buys ZAAZ

WPP Group's Wunderman has acquired interactive agency ZAAZ for an undisclosed sum, reports ClickZ. The digital agency, founded eight years ago, offers web strategy, design, analysis, and search engine marketing and optimization services. Wunderman intends to integrate ZAAZ's digital expertise with its regional offices worldwide.

ZAAZ, founded in Seattle, also has an office in Portland, Oregon and employs 65 people, according to AFX News. It counts Alcoa, Converse, Expedia, Microsoft and Qwest among its clients. ZAAZ's unaudited revenues for the year ended December 31 were $9.2 million, with net assets $1.6 million.

"It's a really interesting match when you look at our ability to do behavior [analysis] compared with their position as a relationship marketing powerhouse," Shane Atchison, CEO of ZAAZ, told ClickZ.

"Success in the digital world requires marketers to capture the right data from the web. That, however, is the relatively easy part," Wunderman Chairman and CEO Daniel Morel said in a statement. "The greater challenge is in understanding exactly how to transform the wealth of data into meaningful insights and create actionable marketing plans - that's where ZAAZ stands out from other interactive agencies and provides tremendous value to its clients."
