Wisconsin joins Colorado, Florida, Tennessee and Oklahoma in adding mobile phone numbers to its telemarketing do-not-call list, writes MediaBuyerPlanner.
The state's Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, which administers the list, is doubling the number of intake lines in anticipation of residents calling to register their cell phones, writes Direct Magazine.
The Direct Marketing Association called the move an unnecessary waste of resources. "It’s already against federal law for marketers to call consumers on cell phones, and mobile numbers can be added to the federal no-call list," Jerry Cerasale, senior vp of government affairs for the DMA, asserted.
