Wired: Porno Hen Hawks for Burger King
Not a hen
Wired's take on the BK Subservient Chicken site was that the effort was supposed to mimic a live porn video feed. MarketingVOX's reviewer failed to see such connections. Where Wired reviewer Chris Ulbrich saw a "metal anklet," MarketingVOX saw a standard bird leg band, commonly used in fowl livestock raising. Ulbrich's perceived "garter belt" and "lingerie" may have been merely clothes made to approximate the markings of a Rhode Island Red chicken. It also apparently escaped San Francisco-based Wired that the bird was made to appear as a rooster, not a hen.
Meanwhile, Internet users with too much time are compiling lists of observed commands and behavior. (Don't ask it to make the sign of the Golden Arches.) The site, even in the few days before it officially launched, attracted millions of views. A call to ad agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky's creative Andrew Keller has not yet been returned to clear up the matter. Perhaps he's on the phone with his client, Burger King.
