WikiYou Adds MySpace Aspect to Wikipedia Model

Ready for your close-up?

A new wiki-based site is launching that is focused on biographies and stories about people. Called WikiYou, TechCrunch describes it as a "wikipedia for people" - or, for those seeking a more illustrative description, Wikipedia with a social network strapped on.

Started by Bolt.com founders Jay Gould and Aaron Cohen, WikiYou allows users to create or claim a profile, then operates much like any other social network, with one catch: the main area of the profile is reserved for stories about the person, which anyone can edit.
WikiYou raised $500,000 in funding, and Bolt.com owns a percentage of the company in return for services.
