Nintendo has just announced the creation of WiiWare, which consists of original downloadable games that players can access through the Wii Shop Channel online, reports Next Generation.
"Independent developers armed with small budgets and big ideas will be able to get their original games into the marketplace to see if we can find the next smash hit," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
Launching in early 2008, WiiWare will give both established and independent developers a channel to sell casual games. Gamers will purchase titles using Wii Points, which are Wii's online currency.
