Cyberjournalist: CNN and ABC News…A Marriage?
Rumors of a potential merger between ABC and CNN is all the buzz of the media press this week (LA Times story). Cyberjournalist takes a look at what such a merger might mean for the online news sector. The analysis is a bit thin, but based on comScore data, the story points out that with CNN already the number-one online news destination for Americans, the combined entity would be a force to reckon with. Already, 36% of all Americans who visit news sites visited one or the other or both sites in September (the figure represents unduplicated reach; CNN alone already has a 30% reach among online news consumers). The piece also points out that the combined audience of the two sites skews towards men, small households and the West Coast.
