Among the top 10 online retailers ranked by conversion rates in February 2005, only one, Coldwater Creek, has a significant bricks-and-mortar presence, according to a brief by MediaPost's Center for Media Research, citing the first Internet retail report card from the MegaView Online Retail service, released today by Nielsen/NetRatings. The other nine consist of a television shopping network, catalogs and online-only retailers.
QVC had the highest conversion rates out of approximately 117 online retailers. The top 10 conversion rates ranged from 16.3 percent to 11.8 percent. The average was 4.9 percent among the top 100 retailers.
Among the top 15 Online retail categories based on average order size, computer hardware was first ($585), followed by event and movie tickets ($121.60), automotive ($119.23), and office supplies ($102.47).
