WSJ (subcription required): WebMD Posted Profit in the Third Quarter
Yet another dot-com dispells the myth of doom, reporting $4.5 million in net profit on $200 million in revenue for the last quarter, an 8.1% revenue increase compared to the same time last year. Before you get your hopes up too much about what this means for online advertising, only $19.8 million of that revenue was from the ad-supported consumer health portal division of the business (which was also profitable in its own right). The rest of revenue came from two divisions providing technology services for physicians.
