According to Nielsen//NetRatings, Whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com registered 483,000 unique visitors, compared to 199,000 the previous week.

The film set an opening weekend record for an R-rated movie that week, so itís not surprising that web traffic would increase. But what might make ėMatrixî the movie internet champ, if not the eventual box office one, is the fact that it appeals to webheads. The plot deals with computers, after all, and the movie site is extremely interactive.

Plus, Warner Bros. has an even greater incentive to keep the site fresh and fans coming back: a second ėMatrixî sequel is due in just six months.
