'Snogging' meets
the American tween
Paramount Pictures partnered with UK-based Bebo to promote Brit teen movie "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging." Based on a coming-of-age book by Louise Rennison, the movie debuts in US theatres this October.
A Bebo profile was created for fictional protagonist Georgia Nicolson. It already boasts 8990 friends and 120,000 profile views, reports MediaPost. Georgia will also appear on "Sofia's Diary," a Bebo web drama that launched last year as a joint venture with Sony.
In the show, "Sofia's Diary" star Sofia will interview Georgia to find out why teens are obsessively following her life and adopting her lexicon.
The book that inspired "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" is written as if it were Georgia's diary. Georgia's unique way of characterizing mundane things were also adopted by fans of the books: addressing her parents by the German words for "mother" and "father," calling attractive boys "sex gods," and dubbing breasts "nunga-nungas."
