WashingtonPost.com and ABCNews.com launched blogs this week on their websites, writes MediaPost (via MediaBuyerPlanner). ABCNews.com began publishing three blogs on Monday: one for coverage of Washington, D.C., one for science and technology, and one for news related to the Supreme Court. ABC's blogs, written in a candid, conversational tone, aim to allow the reporters more direct communication with their readers.
The WashingtonPost.com's blog will be written this week by opinion journalist Andrew Sullivan. Washington Post's special projects editor Hal Straus said the blog is to showcase Sullivan's online writings. "His blog is sort of the public face," and Sullivan will be actually making arguments, not just collecting opinions, Straus said.
Last month, CBS launched a newsroom commentary blog.
