'WaPo' Debuts Conservative Blog, Creates 'Firestorm'

Responding to the recent controversy surrounding Dan Froomkin's blog at The Washington Post, editors decided to label his column as "opinion" and to launch a new conservative blog - called Red America, created by Ben Domenech - to counter the liberal slant, Editor & Publisher writes (via MediaBuyerPlanner).

The move set off an immediate "firestorm," according to Post political reporter Tom Edsall. During his online chat yesterday, Edsall responded to readers' adverse reactions to the new blog. He said, "I am told that this is part of the Post's web operation's efforts to provide diverse views. These decisions are, unfortunately, above my paygrade, much as I would love to have the power to hire and fire."
