VW Ad Makers Swear Ad Wasn't for Distribution

Reuters reports that Dan Brooks and Lee Ford, the "Dan and Lee" that took credit for the VW viral ad that involved a suicide bomber, signed sworn statements that they created the ad and had not intended to distribute it. The report made no mention of whether or not Brooks and Ford indicated VW had or had not been involved in the original production. Suspicions to that effect arose when interviews done soon after the release of the ad to the internet revealed that the production was shot with very expensive methods (35mm) and used a very late model of the VW Polo. One of the pair initially had said that the effort cost £40,000, although after VW executives started making denials, he later said it cost only £400.
