Vivendi is reportedly in the planning stages of building a multimedia hub, reports Forbes.
Like myriad ambitious multimedia ventures, this too aims to tackle YouTube in the battle for online viewers. The company plans to offer music, film, games and other content on the site. That content would be accessible across web, cable and mobile.
Toward the latter end the company also created Vivendi Mobile Entertainment, a unit to assist in disseminating content preceding the site launch.
That launch could occur as early as October for France, followed by appearances throughout Europe. The site will follow a paid model, differentiating Vivendi's offering from YouTube's, for example.
