Visa has dumped its 20-year ad agency, Omnicom Group's BBDO, for another Omnicom agency, TBWA/Chiat/Day, after months of consideration between the two agencies and another from Omnicom, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, reports the New York Post (via MediaBuyerPlanner).
BBDO was the brain behind the famous slogan, "It's everwhere you want to be," but Visa is hoping its new agency can get across the idea that it's more than simply a credit card company. In fact, debit cards are responsible for about 65 percent of the company's transactions.
The shift in the $300 million account follows changes in management, including a new CEO, John Philip Coghlan, and chief marketing officer Susanne Lyons. Media buying and public relations will remain with other Omnicom firms.
