Viewers Love Fey as Palin, Mostly on the Web

Lipstick. Lipstick!

Tina Fey's portrayals of Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live have been seen more on the web than on TV, according to a survey by Solutions Research Group.

The survey shows 51 percent of viewers that saw at least one of the skits watched it on the internet. About 23 percent watched on YouTube; 17 percent watched on NBC.com, and 4 percent saw the skit on Hulu.com.

Following the original skit on SNL, NBCU saw record traffic at its website (5.7 million views as of mid-September), with the skit rapidly becoming NBC.com's most-watched viral video ever. And SNL's premiere show featuring Fey as Palin was its best premiere in seven years, reports MediaBuyerPlanner.

Gov. Palin herself has inspired a subculture of fans and satirists over the web. Yesterday Public School Intelligentsia published a short list of Palin sites and memes circulating the blogosphere.
