A panel of video game advertising experts pronounced that the gaming industry needs advertising, especially as rising competitive pressures production costs force the industry to cast about for extra revenue streams. Marketers have been hard pressed to show what sort of results they get from advertising and product placement in video games, but that uncertainty may lift as a new generation of network-connected game consoles comes out, allowing for tracking of exposures.
