Air mail
ViaPost, expected to launch soon in the UK, reportedly cuts carbon emissions from postal deliveries by 20-25 percent, Greenbang reports (via Environmental Leader).
The firm works with Royal Mail and Microsoft to assist citizens in a quicker, environmental-friendly mail solution.
Users may send correspondence directly from a computer to any UK address. They need merely download a driver from ViaPost’s site, type out a letter, and select ViaPost as the printer option.
The letter is digitally conveyed to the ViaPost office nearest to the destination address. The letter is then printed, sealed and delivered by Royal Mail.
Implementation of the solution means mail no longer has to travel hundreds or thousands of miles before it reaches recipients, yielding "a greener and more secure postal service," according to Greenbang.
