Users triumph when
carriers rock the boat
Yesterday Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile announced unlimited wireless plans for $99.99 per month, reports ZD Net.
The announcements came one after another, like a dull game of Follow the Leader.
Verizon will offer immediate nationwide anytime wireless minutes in the US for $99.99. Starting March 2, it will also debut two tiers of broadband access: $39.99 a month for 50 MB of data use, or $59.99 for 5 GB of data.
Last month, Time Warner announced it would be testing a tiered pay-per-download broadband model in select markets.
Hours later, AT&T announced it would match Verizon's $99.99-a-month plan as of February 22. To defend its hasty decision-making, the company called the mobile sector "a highly competitive market."
Apparently so. T-Mobile followed suit with a new rate plan featuring unlimited voice and messaging for $99.99, available February 21.
This is not the first time wireless carriers have stepped over each other to offer competitive services.
