VA Software has announced it will be shaking off its software division and focusing entirely on its suite of media properties, making it a purely Web-based company. It will also be changing its name to Sourceforge.
The list of media properties owned and controlled by the new Sourceforge include SourceForge, SourceForge.net, Slashdot, Linux, freshmeat, and ThinkGeek.
The sale of the company's enterprise software business also drew in a $5.7 million net in tax gains alone for Q3 of 2007, per Sourceforge's earnings release.
