US Tops New Tech Usage Ranking

India earns 'sleeper-hit' status

The US, Sweden and Japan have topped a ranking that measures how well countries are using telecommunications technology to boost their social and economic standard of living.

The Connectivity Scorecard was created by London Business School professor Leonard Waverman, which measures countries across 30 indicators, according to Reuters.

Similar rankings gauge how much a country spends on telecommunications, which includes networks, mobile phones and computers.

South Korea usually tops prior lists. But for the Connectivity Scorecard, it is parked in the middle.

The US topped the list, but was rated below a seven out of 10 due to weak use of broadband networks.

The study also forecasts Russia's ranking will dwindle in the next decade as the country's populace ages; meanwhile, India will skyrocket due to its "better-educated, younger workforce."
