Joost
Joost is the next step up from video sites like YouTube. If not familiar, it basically turns your computer into a TV by offering full-screen, full-length programming online.
However, its having a tough time gaining a foothold in the US because broadband here simply isn't fast enough for Joost's advanced video codecs, according to NewTeeVee.
Even when American ISPs switch to faster connections, such as AT&T and Verizon's plans, Joost may have to pay to eat up bandwidth simply because it would also be competing with those very service providers' own content.
Bandwidth-hungry video sites are also seeing roadblocks in the UK where ISPs are considering charging people more despite the higher broadband speeds across the pond.
New Zealand's Marker Studio has posted a video on the future of TV, calling the craze TV 2.0. Though only time will tell if the web can support the needed bandwidth.
