In the city
A virtual rendition of Manhattan is now live, thanks to Upnext.com, a new site with social features that invite users to explore and review the city's plethora of shops, restaurants and venues in 3D.
According to PSFK, the natural transition from map-based review sites like CitySearch or Yelp is virtual life, which allows the site to pack in more info.
Instead of APIs that map sites like Google Maps and Mapquest rely on, the site uses local data, making it more current and flexible.
If virtual Manhattan proves successful, other metropolises like San Francisco and Los Angeles may be replicated next.
