IAB SmartBriefs: Nothing…
I find it amusing that MediaPost and IAB SmartBriefs chose not to report our announcement yesterday of the formation of Up2Speed. Honestly, is it not notable information for their readers that Andy Bourland, co-founder of ClickZ, has come out of retirement, bought the ~50,000 participant discussion forums of Adventive and MarketingFix to form a promising new media company in this sector? Or is it just that they're wetting themselves at the prospect of it? I know they got the news about it, because Masha admitted to me she reads the site regularly, and I emailed the editors of SmartBrief yesterday about it.
Of course, we reported on SmartBrief's launch, and we link to MediaPost almost every day (there, I just did it again!). That's why we're something fresh and different in the marketplace. We cover the industry thoroughly, point out what's worth reading, call a spade a spade, remind you that we're human, disclose our conflicts of interest and don't just push out a bunch of wamed-over press releases (or when we do, at least we label them as such).
