Universal McCann Combines Online, Emerging Media Units

Responding to media convergence, Interpublic Group's Universal McCann has combined its online and emerging media units into one, in what David Cohen, the newly named U.S. director of digital communications, said is a "formalization of our go-to-market strategy" rather than an reorganization, writes ClickZ. Cohen will report to UM U.S. president Mary Gerzemaand will be responsible for integration of all new and emerging media, such as broadband, wireless, VOD and gaming.

The combined division will, for now, maintain the Universal McCann Interactive name. Cohen said such incremental steps will lead toward full integration of digital and traditional media. He said he expects more reorganization-related announcements to follow for search and other digital marketing.
