Understanding Memeword Marketing

Microdoc News: Building Google Traffic: Memeword Marketing

More interesting commentary from my new favourite site. This time the author discusses how to build traffic by creating a meme bandwagon. The basic idea is to invent a new word or phrase on your weblog, wait for it to catch on, and then get traffic through Google when people search for it. Create a viral effect, or a media virus, and you could get serious traffic.

Obviously with Marketing Fix being a pioneering publication, we've already tried and tested this technique. At the end of last year we made up the term "kick through advertising." That description subsequently got used by CNET, giving it wide exposure, which then led to people searching for it on Google, which in turn looped traffic back to this site as we held the no.1 or 2 spot for the term.

We are just so far ahead of the curve ;-)
