The Register: Wobbly shopping carts blight UK e-commerce
British e-commerce technology performed appallingly in April, according to a U.K-based web applications testing firm. SciVisum studied more than 50 U.K. sites, finding that sites failed to add an item into an online shopping cart one to five times per 100 attempts. Of the sites tested, about twenty percent failed to work for more than 12 hours during the month. A full three quarters of the sites failed to meet the 99.9 percent uptime standard. The worst site, a do-it-yourself retailer, was found to be down for a full four days.
