Internet Retailer reports that consumers in the U.K. spent £1.4 billion online in April, 29.3 percent more than in April 2004 - the highest increase in seven months - according to the Interactive Media in Retail Group, a London-based association for online retailers. IMRG has been tracking online sales since April 2000; it reports that sales have increased 1,500 percent since then. By comparison, total retail sales in the U.K. declined 1.3 percent in April, according to the British Retail Consortium.
