Going once, going twice...!
UK regulatory body Ofcom will be auctioning portions of the bandwidth spectrum that was freed during the switch to digital broadcasting, reports the BBC.
Ofcom has created categories, comprised of suggested uses, so buyers can assess the airwaves that suit their needs. But the group says it will not put restrictions on how the airwaves are ultimately used, once sold.
While some companies have banded together to try reserving portions of the airwaves for HD broadcast usage, Ofcom insists HD broadcasts will be fine playing on the same field as others.
