Socializing on the Queen's soil
enjoys major draw this year
According to Deloitte's Christmas Retail Survey 2007, 66 percent of all UK-based consumers plan to use the internet for holiday shopping, reports Research Recap.
About 14 percent will spend the majority of their holiday money online, up seven percent from last year.
This is roughly equivalent to £2.1 billion in sales, driven by a spike in planned spend on:
- Socializing, expected to cost £6.8 billion this year, and
- Food and drink, expected to cost £8.9 billion
Spending on gifts will increase by two percent, to £18.3 billion.
