UK Gamers Spent $3BN on Games in '07, Up 25% from Last Year

Progress looks, strangely
enough, like the past

In 2007, UK gamers spent 1.5 billion GPB on video game titles, shattering a record and beating last year by 25 percent, according to the BBC.

Sales of video games in the UK are at an all time high. 78 million titles were sold this year, thanks in part to the launch of next-gen consoles like the Nintendo Wii.

87.9 million GBP was spent on video games last week alone in the UK. During the third quarter, more than 11 million consoles were sold, up from 33 percent last year.

Games on consoles now account for 79 percent of all software sales.
