In what might be a historic moment in online publishing: Six Apart, makers of the popular Moveable Type blog publishing software (which we use to produce Up2Speed), finally released TypePad, its web-based blog publishing platform.

In my opinion, Moveable Type (MT) rocks. It's most notable shortcoming is that it's hard to install if you're not a geek. TypePad is MT's answer to Blogger.com's Blog*Spot, a free blog publishing platform that served Blogger well in generating new customers.

TypePad sells as a fee service. Three tiers of features range from $4.95 to $14.95 per month. My prediction: the Six Apart folks will at last get deservedly rich. Soon: Moveable Type Pro. Sometime before then, TypePad will enable domain mapping, which is when I switch over from Blogger for Bruner Blog at last.
