Twitter just rolled out a new look, with new buttons to be used for people to organize their content on the microblogging site.
The design change is appearing on Twitter.com and mobile phones, as well as TweetDeck.
Home. One new section is dubbed "Home", where the user views Tweets from the people they’ve chosen to follow. It’s a personal collection of Tweets, featuring the latest news, commentary and information from the sources the user has actively selected.
Connect. A new Connect section is the channel to start a conversation.
Discovery. This button is a de facto search option for users, letting them tap into a stream of information that has been customized for that person. This feature holds out interesting implications for marketers, based on Twitter’s description of it in its blog post. "When you use Discover, you’ll see results reflecting your interests—based on your current location, what you follow and what’s happening in the world. As you use Twitter more, Discover gets even better at serving up more content just for you."
Profile. A new profile section highlights the user's interests. It is meant to facilitate more relationships among Twitter users and brands. "Others can Tweet directly to you and view your lists, favorites, followers, photos and more. The Me tab is also where you can stay current on your direct message conversations," Twitter said.
Speak Up. A new Tweet button through which users can upload photos, add a location and link to videos and news stories.
