Internet Retailer: Going global is putting web sites to the test, report says
A research group reports that major international companies are failing to internationalize their web offerings, falling victim to turf battles, cost savings inefficiencies and stiff competition for homepage access among many different departments. Byte Level Research found that companies reported spending about $1 million on translating web sites for every $1 billion in revenue. Larger companies spent a lesser proportion, showing that the internationalization efforts had an economy of scale benefiting the largest firms.
