Nickelodeon has launched a mash-up product for the latest version of its broadband hub, TurboNick 2.0, giving visitors access to a variety of Nickelodeon assets, including video clips, audio and photos, along with tools that allow them to create unique scenes using their favorite Nick characters.
Once the user has created new content, it can be viewed on TurboNick, emailed to friends, or posted on friends' websites, MediaWeek reports. The mash-up feature is the first step toward eventually allowing kids to create and post their own videos on the site.
TurboNick 2.0 was soft-launched in September, and as part of the site's redesign its video-streaming technology is now Flash-based, allowing for continuous video streaming, allowing kids to create unique playlists, according to Nick. The site's video search function has also been improved.
