AdWeek [link not yet available] reports that travel site TripAdvisor narrowed down its maiden agency pitch to two finalists: Mullen and Connelly Partners. The pitch consultancy Pile and Company helped nix former contenders Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners and Hill Holliday. The account will reportedly spend between $5 million and $10 million in 2005. Mullen already works with other divisions of TripAdvisor's parent company IAC/InterActiveCorp, such as Match.com and LendingTree. In the modern era of consultant-run pitches, two finalists will frequently be singled out in an effort to get them to bid against one another to win the business with fee concessions.
