Tribune Interactive announced it has invested in boodle, a provider of online printable coupons to newspaper publishers, and as part of the deal will distribute Boodle's coupons through Tribune websites, including those of the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune and Newsday, reports ClickZ. The new deal expands a short-term arrangement that tested demand for the coupons.
"The next step is for Tribune to build a concerted advertising campaign in their online properties and print properties," said Jeff Beliveau, VP of newspaper relations for Boodle parent Consumer Networks, which will run its own campaign promoting Boodle via search engine marketing and other pay-for-performance ads.
Boodle already has distribution deals with Gannett, Knight Ridder, Midlands Newspapers and The Copley Press. Boodle's biggest competitor is SmartSource.
