Tribune Sells BlackVoices to AOL

IAR: AOL Acquires BlackVoices.com

Tribune Co. sold its BlackVoices site, with about 880,000 members, to AOL. Having released three new versions of its software concentrating on niche demographics, some are speculating that the new acquisition will serve as the basis of a new version of AOL for blacks.

AOL has several Afro-American oriented sites currently, and the largest user base of blacks - about 4.4 million.
