Tribune Expands Hipster Mixer Site to New Markets

The Tribune Co. is planning to introduce new versions of its Metromix site across its newspaper properties, reports MediaWeek.

Metromix, an entertainment and lifestyle event site, currently only exists in Chicago as an extension of the Chicago Tribune's online presence. New versions have been introduced in Orlando, Baltimore and Los Angeles. New York could see its version introduced soon.

The expansion is being undertaken as a move to expand not only Metromix's reach but also its advertising revenue. The site is geared toward young, active, hip adults and contains listings and reviews of bars, clubs and restaurants as well as broader entertainment reviews.

These efforts, it hopes, will get the attention of advertisers trying to reach that crowd.
