ClickZ reports that newspaper giant Tribune will expand its Los Angeles-based free classifieds provider Recycler.com into six cities where it owns local TV stations - including Dallas, Houston, Seattle, St. Louis, Indianapolis and New Orleans - and six cities where it owns newspapers: New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Orlando, Hartford, and Allentown, Penn. Facing competition from free classifieds providers, such as Craigslist, and classifieds aggregators like Oodle, newspapers have had a tough time taking their offline classifieds businesses online.
