Treasure Hunt Game May Generate Tourism for Enoshima

A new game for the Nintendo DS, a handheld console, leaks into the real world for Japanese gamers.

Treasure Quest is a mixed-reality treasure hunt that plays out on Enoshima, a tiny island 50 km off the coast of Tokyo, reports Pink Tentacle.

Players use their handhelds to find clues around the island. The search leads to hidden treasure.

The game takes advantage of the handheld's wireless capabilities and at certain key locations the its surroundings the island's scenery.

Treasure Quest is free for DS owners with sufficient spare time to physically wander Enoshima. The island is open from 10am to 4pm. Players must sign up on the game's website to play.
